The Village

Eymet

Eymet is a beautiful little bastide village in the south of the Dordogne, founded way back in 1270, but still full of life today! Centered around its lovely medieval square, the village is known for its bustling weekly market, friendly locals, and lively mix of French and international residents. With plenty of cafés, restaurants, and events throughout the year, Eymet has a relaxed, welcoming vibe that makes everyone feel at home.

Where to Eat & Drink

There are plenty of great options to choose from, with most restaurants and bars clustered around the main square, so you will never be far from your accommodation. Restaurants typically serve dinner from 6pm to 9pm, but we recommend heading out between 7pm and 8pm for the best experience. After dinner, the night doesn’t have to end as most bars stay open until around 11pm, and some keep going until 2am.

While you can easily wander and discover places by following your nose, here are a few of our favourites:

Our Favourite Restaurants:
Chez Paulette | Pizzeria Napoli | Walnut

Our Favourite Bars:
Cafe Tortoni | Cave d’Eymet | Cafe De Paris | Dan Martin’s

Things To Do

There’s so much to see and do around Eymet! Explore the beautiful countryside on foot or by bike, or visit nearby vineyards for a relaxed afternoon of wine tasting (don’t miss Christian at Domaine de Sauban - our favourite wine expert!). The surrounding villages and towns are rich in history and charm, with bustling markets, medieval castles, and inviting cafés, bars and restaurants to discover. And if you’re after a bit of adventure, you’ll find canoeing trips, two golf courses, lively festivals, and Michelin star food - all just a short drive away.
